Treviso – once you see it, you fall in love

How I Found Treviso on the Map

For almost twenty years, I had the dream of living in Italy.

With every new trip, I fell in love with a different city – the less known it was to tourists, the better. Italy has this magic: every place feels like the right one. The squares, the art, the food, the sea, the mountains, the small bars and shops where life flows in a different way.

But when the time finally came to move to Italy, the choice became much more difficult.
How do I want to live? What really matters to me?

I didn’t want a city that was too big.
I wanted those authentically Italian places – infinitely charming in every little detail.

I dreamed of a lively yet peaceful city, without the chaos of Sofia.
Not far from the Dolomites, of course.
With good connections to the airport and to other important cities.
And above all – easy to reach for my friends and family.

And so, almost by chance, I discovered Treviso. I didn’t even know it existed.

At first, it was just a point on the map. I didn’t like the name and avoided it. But as if by magic, photos and articles started appearing, describing it as a small Venice, one of the cleanest and greenest cities.

One morning I woke up and I knew. I felt it with all my heart:

I want to live in Treviso.

When I arrived here for the first time, I was a little afraid. And yet I strongly believed in my choice. I didn’t have that knot in my stomach that makes you doubt. There were only butterflies – the kind that come with happiness about to become reality.

I am in the right place.

A City That Wins You Over Quietly

Treviso is a city that wins you over quietly, almost without you noticing.
Orderly, green, clean. Gently magical.

The canals here are not just water flowing through the city. They are like streets between the houses – leading you to a beautiful façade, a small bridge, or a garden full of flowers. Ducks and swans swim on the water, and everything feels perfect.

The Small Joys of Everyday Life

Small cafés are an essential part of life here.

In the morning, when you leave your home and the city is waking up, you smell fresh coffee and warm croissants. It’s something simple, but very powerful. You stop, exchange a few words. That elegant gentleman with white hair walking his dog greets you:

Buongiorno Signora.

And the day begins with a smile.

You walk through the gates of the ancient walls and find the bakery of dear Signora Manuela – with a hundred types of bread, and every day you don’t know which one to choose. It was Sara – my dog – who discovered it first, following the wonderful smell.

Then comes Massimo – the most cheerful and colorful fruit seller. He greets you with a “Ciao!” and his big smile, filling your bag with carefully selected fruit and vegetables, the way only Massimo can.

And so… little by little, you begin to feel at home.

A City of Ideas, Stories, and Great Food

Treviso also has a surprising way of amazing you.

You go to an exhibition or an event and discover that the person next to you is an entrepreneur or the founder of a brand known all over the world. This area is home to many companies that have become international icons, such as Benetton, Diesel, Geox, Lotto, De’Longhi, Replay, Sisley, and many others.

Living here, you start to realize that many objects that are part of your everyday life – the clothes you wear, the shoes you’ve loved for years, even the coffee you make in the morning – are often created right here, between Treviso and the nearby cities.

And sometimes something curious happens: you sit at an event or conference and discover that just before you, in that very same place, an architect had been sitting – a true student of the great Carlo Scarpa.

Just a few kilometers from Treviso, there is also H-Farm, one of the most innovative campuses in Europe, where students from all over the world study, collaborate, and develop new ideas in technology, education, and entrepreneurship.

Living here, I’ve realized that this region is far more dynamic than it seems.

Treviso is also the city where one of the most famous Italian desserts in the world was born: tiramisù.

I only dared to make it after two years of living here, thanks to the advice from the gastronomy shop Degusto – a place where I learned how to choose the right products, pair the perfect wine, and discover the true taste of Italian cuisine.

In the summer, the city fills with concerts, events, and festivals. People gather in the squares, stop for an aperitivo, and enjoy life.

Treviso also offers something rare: living close to Venice.
You can go there for a walk or an exhibition and then return to the tranquility of home.

When a City Becomes Home

Today, sometimes I find myself envying my own choice.

And I think Sara understood it first.

Treviso is not a city that tries to impress you.
It’s a city that, day after day, makes you feel like you are in the right place in the world.

And that is exactly why today it gives me great joy to help other people find their home here too – in Treviso.
